2009 Roush P51b Mustang 500x375The primary upgrades for this 2009 model-year P-51B include a 2009 Mustang chassis, Roush six-piston brakes, black chrome wheels, and a vent-pod gauge that reads the boost put out by the supercharger. Speaking of forced induction, the same 4.6L V8 and blower are fitted to the new car, generating 510hp (380kW) and 510lb-ft (690Nm) of torque. The pistons get more dish, however, to lower compression from 9.8 to 8.6, so the boost has no doubt been upped to compensate. To deliver all the fuel necessary to crank out that much power, an upgrade delivery system has been installed.

For the last couple of years, Ford has played a big part of the EAA AirVenture, offering up one-off Mustangs at auction to benefit the association's Young Eagles program. Two years ago the AV8R Mustang brought in half a million dollars, while last year the AV-X10 'Dearborn Doll' earned $250,000 for charity.

This year's aviation-themed Mustang is inspired by the SR-71 Blackbird, a project that brought together Jack Roush and Caroll Shelby for the very first time. The one-of-one


The Richard Petty Signature Series Mustang is a limited edition build based on 2011+ Mustang GT with a six-speed transmission and powered by a supercharged 624-hp, 5.0L V8 engine package factory-engineered by Ford Racing. Hardcore driveline upgrades and a brake package specially engineered by StopTech help to harness the extreme power and put it to the ground, while a handling package developed by Petty's Garage and Pedders Suspension elevates the Mustang GT's road manners to world-class status. Elegant Forgeline 3-piece wheels and Continental DW Extreme Tires cap off the mechanical upgrades performed by the legendary race shop down in Level Cross, North Carolina. 

In the appearance department, the Signature Series Mustang features a special rear spoiler, Ford Racing front and rear fascias, and unique Petty's Garage badging. Other appointments include custom leather seats spec'd out by the King himself, a short-throw racing shifter, and much, much more. The 50 serialized cars will each come standard with a Petty graphics package designed to complement any stock Mustang exterior color.

Ford’s engineers and designers have set out to come up with a one-of-a-kind creation to celebrate and pay tribute to the black Tuskegee Airmen who flew P51 Mustangs and bombers in World War II, aptly known as the Red Tails. Tomorrow, Ford will join an exclusive gathering at the EAA Air Venture in Oshkock, Wisconsin with its customized Red Tails Edition Mustang sporting a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 under the custom painted bonnet pushing over 600 horsepower.

As the exclusive automotive sponsor of EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, a world-famous air show, Ford has gone all out to create a unique U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds Edition 2014 Ford Mustang GT. This custom vehicle – which sports VIN 0001 – is being auctioned off to support the EAA Young Eagles program, which has provided free introductory flights to more than 1.6 million young people since 1992.
